Seedance 2.0 Text to Video with Sound and Up to 4K Output

Last verified: October 19, 2026

Seedance 2.0 turns a written prompt into a video clip with sound, and here you can render that clip at up to 4K. With Seedance 2.0 text to video, the prompt is the whole brief. Who is in the frame, what happens, where it happens, the light, how the camera moves and what we hear all come from what you write.

ByteDance's technical report tested text-to-video with benchmarks built together with media-industry experts. The tests score how well a clip follows complex audio-video instructions, keeps motion stable, uses professional film language and lines up sound with picture. Write your prompt for those same qualities. A prompt that reads like a director's brief, specific about action, camera and sound, gives the model something concrete to work with on each one.

The form keeps the other decisions short: how long the clip runs, what resolution it renders at, what shape the frame is, and whether the run adds generated sound or uses online search. Set them for where the video is going before you generate, and the clip you download will already fit that place.

Prompting Techniques for Better Seedance 2.0 Clips

Write the Prompt as a Detailed Script

Seedance 2.0 carries out long, script-like prompts with reasonable precision, so detail is worth the characters it uses. Name the subject and what makes it distinct, then give the action in the order it happens, the setting, the light, the camera and the sound. The Prompt box has room for all of it. Vague words leave choices to the model, while concrete ones tell it what to do.

Name the Visual Style You Want

Seedance 2.0 supports many art styles, and when a prompt is open-ended the model makes its own creative choices. That gives you two ways to work. When the look matters (watercolor, claymation, anime, 35mm film, glossy commercial), name it early in the prompt and repeat its key traits. When you're exploring, leave the style open, see what the model chooses, and write the look you like into the next prompt.

Spell Out On-Screen Text Word for Word

Seedance 2.0 is fairly strong at generating and keeping text intact in several languages, so titles, signs and labels can go straight into the prompt. Put the exact words in quotation marks, keep them short, and say where and how they appear, for example a headline fading in above a product or a neon sign over a shop door. That works better than asking for 'some text' and hoping for the right words.

How to Make a Video from Text with Seedance 2.0

Four steps from a written prompt to a clip you can download.

1

Describe the Scene in the "Prompt" Box

Type your idea into the "Prompt" box. It's required and holds up to 2,048 characters. Use that room for the subject, the action, the setting, the light, the camera and the sound, because the prompt is the only brief the model gets. If all you have is a rough idea, the "Enhance Prompt" button under the box suggests fuller versions to start from.

2

Choose "Video Duration", "Resolution" and "Aspect Ratio"

"Video Duration" goes from 4 to 15 seconds in one-second steps and starts at 4. Give multi-shot or dialogue prompts more seconds so each beat has time to play out. "Resolution" offers 480P, 720P, 1080P and 4K. Draft at 480P or 720P while you're still changing the wording, and save 4K for the version you'll deliver, where the extra detail shows. "Aspect Ratio" offers 1:1, 3:4, 4:3, 9:16 and 16:9 and starts at 1:1. Switch to 9:16 for Reels, Shorts and TikTok or to 16:9 for YouTube before you generate.

3

Check "Generate Audio" and Click "Generate"

Check the two switches before you click. "Generate Audio" is on by default. Leave it on unless the clip is going into an edit that has its own soundtrack. "Web Search" is off by default and, when turned on, lets the run use online search. You don't need it when your prompt already describes everything in the scene. Then click "Generate".

4

Review and Download the Result

Each run returns 1 video. Watch it through with the sound on before you download it. If a beat is missing or the framing is off, change one thing in the prompt or settings and run it again, so you can tell which change made the difference.

Common Problems and How to Fix Them

What usually goes wrong when making clips from text, and what to change before the next run.

My prompt is too long to fit in the box

The Prompt box has a character limit (see the first step), and long prompts usually hit it by describing the same thing twice. Cut repeated adjectives and filler, keep a line each for subject, action, setting, light, camera and sound, and turn lists into short phrases. Then generate again with the shorter version. A compact prompt is also easier to adjust one piece at a time.

I need a 30-second or one-minute video, not a short clip

Video Duration stops at its longest option, so a longer piece has to be built from several clips. Split the idea into segments and write each one as its own prompt. Repeat the character, wardrobe and setting description word for word in every prompt so the segments look alike. Generate each segment and join them in your editor. Use the same Aspect Ratio and Resolution for every segment so the cuts match.

My video came out the wrong shape for Reels or YouTube

Aspect Ratio stays on its default unless you change it, and the frame shape is set when the clip is generated. Choose the ratio for where the video will be posted, then run the prompt again. Cropping a finished clip afterward cuts away part of the frame and some of its resolution.

There's music or talking in the clip that I didn't ask for

While Generate Audio is on, every run comes with sound, and a prompt with no sound direction leaves the soundtrack up to the model. If you'll add your own audio later, switch Generate Audio off and run it again. If you want sound but not that sound, describe what should be heard and what shouldn't, for example rain and footsteps with no music, then generate again.

I want a few versions to choose from

Variations come from repeated runs, so plan them. Change one thing per run, such as the camera move, the lighting or the wording of the key action, and keep the rest of the prompt the same so you can see what each change does. Compare takes at a lower Resolution, then render the one you pick at your final Resolution.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of videos is Seedance 2.0 good for?

ByteDance says the model adapts to a wide range of scenarios and names commercial advertising and explainer videos among the work where it produces high-quality results. Starting from text, that means product spots, short explainer openers, story scenes and social clips framed for the platform you post to.

Does Seedance 2.0 add sound to the video?

Yes. Seedance 2.0 is a native audio-video model, so it generates sound and picture together and doesn't add audio afterward. The Generate Audio switch decides whether a run includes sound. Treat the soundtrack as part of the brief and name the voices, effects and music you want, just as you describe the picture.

Can I make vertical videos for Reels, Shorts or TikTok?

Yes. Aspect Ratio includes a tall vertical frame for phone-first platforms and a portrait frame that is only slightly taller than wide, for feeds. Set it before every run instead of relying on the default, and frame the action for the shape you chose. A vertical shot works best when the subject stays near the center rather than spread across a wide scene.

What makes one generation cost more than another?

The credit cost of a run is calculated from the options you choose and shown above the Generate button once you're signed in. Two settings change it: Video Duration and Resolution. Suggestions from the Enhance Prompt button don't use credits.

Will Enhance Prompt replace what I wrote?

No. It suggests fuller prompts based on your rough idea, and the text in the Prompt box changes only when you pick one of the suggestions. A good habit is to pick the closest suggestion and then edit the details only you know, like a product name, a line of dialogue or the exact look you're after.

Can I control the camera with text alone?

Yes. Seedance 2.0 produces professional-level camera movement, so write the move you want into the prompt next to the action it should follow, for example a slow push-in, a low-angle tracking shot or a locked tripod frame. Keep to one clear move per shot, and describe the camera separately from what the subject does so the two instructions don't get mixed up.
