Kling 4.0 Image to Video: Up to 30 Seconds From One Still

Last verified: October 29, 2026

Kling 4.0 generates up to 30 seconds of video natively. That means a single still can open into a long take or a connected sequence, with action, pacing and camera movement that keep developing across the clip. Using that with Kling 4.0 image-to-video takes three moves: upload your picture to the Image field, write the action in the Prompt box, and set Video Duration to the time that action really needs.

Large-scale motion and complex camera movement are among the most common weak points in AI video, and Kling 4.0 was built to make both more stable and fluid. That's the reason to choose it when your picture has to turn into real movement, like a sprint, a fight or a camera travelling around a subject, and not just a gentle drift.

For a working creator, this means assets you've already approved, like a key visual, a packshot or a character portrait, can become footage with the approved image as the starting point rather than a text description of it. Vidofy keeps the form short: the still, a prompt and two settings for length and resolution. If you only have a rough idea, Enhance Prompt sits under the prompt box.

How to Write Prompts That Kling 4.0 Animates Well

Describe the Movement, Not the Picture

Kling's guide to animating an image asks the prompt for two things: how your subject moves and what the camera does. Your picture already sets the faces, wardrobe, colour and layout, so use the Prompt box for what changes: the action, its order and speed, and the camera's path while it happens. A line like 'she turns from the window, lifts the cup and walks toward the door as the camera eases back' earns its length. A paragraph re-describing the room doesn't.

Plan Long Clips as Beats in Order

Kling 4.0 is built for longer takes and connected sequences, with control over action, pacing and camera movement. You exercise that control through the prompt. When you raise Video Duration well past its default, write the action as beats in the order they happen (opening, turn, ending) and attach each camera move to its beat. That way there's enough happening to fill the time you asked for.

Draft a Full Brief With Enhance Prompt

Kling 4.0 is built to read long, detailed prompts, so a brief covering the action, the camera, the light and the pacing gets more of your intent across than a single line. If you start from a rough idea, click Enhance Prompt and treat its suggestions as a first draft. Pick the closest one, then edit the verbs and camera wording until it describes your shot and not a generic one.

Common Problems When Animating an Image and How to Fix Them

What usually goes wrong, why it happens, and what to change before you run again.

My image won't upload or gets rejected.

The Image field only accepts certain file types, up to a maximum file size and above a minimum pixel size. A file that misses any of these is refused before a run can start. Re-export the picture in an accepted format, compress it under the size limit, or use the larger original if it's small. The exact limits are in the FAQ on uploads. Then upload it again: nothing has been generated yet, so there's nothing to redo.

My prompt is too long for the Prompt box.

The Prompt box has a fixed character limit, given in the steps above. Long prompts usually spend most of it re-describing what the picture already shows. Cut the sentences about colours, clothing or product design, keep the direction for the action and the camera, then paste the shorter version and generate.

I need the clip to run longer than the longest duration available.

Video Duration stops at its top value, so a longer piece has to be built from several runs. Split the action into parts that each fit one clip. Generate them one after another, with each prompt picking up where the last part ended, and join them in your editor.

I only got one video and want to compare a few takes.

To get variations, you run the generator again. Keep the same image and change one thing at a time, such as a verb, the camera move or the duration. Then compare the takes side by side, so you know which change made the difference.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes one Kling 4.0 generation cost more than another?

The credit cost of a run is worked out from the options you choose and shown above the Generate button once you're signed in. It changes with Video Duration and Resolution. Getting suggestions from Enhance Prompt doesn't use credits.

Which image files can I upload, and how big can they be?

The Image field takes one picture in JPG, JPEG, PNG or WEBP format, up to 10 MB and at least 300×300 pixels. It's required, so you can't start a run without it. If your file is HEIC, TIFF or another format, export it to one of the accepted types first.

Do I have to write a prompt, or can Kling 4.0 animate the image on its own?

You do need a prompt: the Prompt box has to be filled in, along with the Image field, before you can generate. A short line naming the action and the camera move is enough to start with. The prompting techniques above show how to build it into a fuller brief.

Can Kling 4.0 animate illustrations and product photos, or only portraits?

Portraits, product photos, illustrations and other images all work as the starting picture, so drawn artwork and packshots are as welcome as photos of people. For artwork, describe motion that suits the medium, like clouds drifting in brushstrokes or a cape lifting in the wind, and keep any style words consistent with the illustration.
