Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash Image to Video: Animate Your Stills
Last verified: November 1, 2026
Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash Image to Video works best for short, finished shots built from a single still, such as a product photo, a portrait or a rendered scene, that need to move and come back with their own sound. The model outputs high-resolution video with audio, not a silent render, and Vidofy lets you take that clip up to 4K when it's ready to deliver.
Your image doesn't have one fixed role. You give the model a still and a prompt, and your wording decides how it uses the picture. The same upload can become the first frame of the shot, or it can act as a looser guide for what should happen. So most of your control comes from the sentence you write about the image, not from extra settings.
The Vidofy form works the same way. Add the still under Image and put your effort into the Prompt box, where Enhance Prompt can expand a rough idea. Then set Video Duration, Resolution and Aspect Ratio to match where the clip will be published. Since the prompt does most of the work, decide what the shot should do before you press Generate.

How do you animate a photo with Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash?
Five steps from a still image to a downloaded clip.
Upload your still in Image
Add the photo, render or drawing you want to animate in "Image". Pick one with a clear subject and the framing you want the clip built around, because the whole clip grows out of that picture. If the file is refused, the FAQ lists the accepted formats and sizes.
Describe the motion in Prompt
Write in the "Prompt" box what should move, how the camera should behave and what you should hear. The box takes up to 20,000 characters, far more than one shot needs, so spend your words on direction instead of re-describing what the image already shows. If you only have a rough idea, the "Enhance Prompt" button under the box suggests fuller versions. Your text only changes when you pick one.
Set Video Duration, Resolution and Aspect Ratio
Under "Video Duration", choose 4, 6, 8 or 10 seconds. It starts at 4, so pick a longer length whenever the prompt asks for more than one movement. "Resolution" offers 360P, 720P, 1080P and 4K and starts at 720P; choose what your destination needs. "Aspect Ratio" starts at 9:16 for vertical feeds. Switch to 16:9 for landscape, ideally with a still that's framed the same way.
Start the run with Generate
Click "Generate" once the image, prompt and settings are in place. Each run returns one video. If you're comparing ideas, change one thing between runs, such as the camera line, the sound or the length, so you can see what made the difference.
Download the finished clip
Download the result. Before your next run, write down the prompt and settings that produced a clip you like, so you can return to them or reuse the same direction for the delivery version.
Still image or existing footage: which workflow fits
Two ways to use the same model, depending on whether you're starting from a still or from a clip.
| Criterion | Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash | Alternatives | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting material | You start with a still in the Image field and describe the motion you want in the prompt. | Edit Video starts from footage that already exists and uses the same model's ability to change video through conversational instructions. | Use image-to-video when all you have is a photo, render or drawing. Use Edit Video when the shot is already filmed and only needs changing. |
| Where the direction comes from | Your wording decides how the model uses the picture, whether as the opening frame or as a looser guide, and all the movement is generated from there. | When you edit, the existing clip already has its motion, and your instructions describe the change you want made to it. | Pick image-to-video when you want the model to invent the movement. Pick editing when the movement is right but something in the shot needs to change. |
Common problems and how to fix them
What usually goes wrong when you animate a still, and what to change before the next run.
My generation got blocked even though the prompt looks harmless
The Image field won't take my file
The action feels rushed or stops before it finishes
Frequently Asked Questions
Which image files can I upload?
The Image field accepts JPG, JPEG, PNG and WEBP files up to 10 MB, and the picture must be at least 300×300 pixels. A prompt is also required, so every run pairs your still with a written description of what should happen.
I have video footage, not a photo. Which tool should I use?
This generator starts from a still image. If the motion is already on video and you want to change it, use Edit Video. Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is also built to edit videos through conversational instructions.
Can I animate a photo of a real person?
It depends on who's in the picture. Uploading images that contain certain recognizable people isn't supported. In the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, images containing minors aren't supported either. If your still falls into one of those groups, use a different image; rewording the prompt won't help.
What makes one generation cost more than another?
The credit cost of a run is calculated from the options you choose and shown above the Generate button once you're signed in, so you can see it before you start. It changes with Video Duration and Resolution. Asking Enhance Prompt for suggestions doesn't use credits.
How long does a generation take?
There's no fixed wait. Generation time depends on the clip's duration and resolution and on how busy the model is at that moment, so the same settings can take different amounts of time from one run to the next.
